Overview

Power

Jash is one of largest manufacturer of Knife gate and slide gate valves that are commonly used in power plants for various applications due to their unique design and features. Here are some key aspects of knife gate valves in power plants:

Isolation and Shutoff

Jash valves are primarily used for isolation and shutoff applications in power plants. They are designed to effectively cut through thick fluids, slurries, and solids in suspension.

Design and Operation:

Design

These valves have a sharp-edged disc (resembling a knife) that cuts through the flow media when closing, providing a tight seal.

Operation

The valve is operated by a manual handwheel, manual chainwheel, pneumatic actuator, electric actuator and hydraulic actuator depending on the specific requirements of the power plant.

Material Selection

Our Knife gate and slide gate valves used in power plants are often constructed from materials that offer corrosion resistance, ensuring durability and reliability in the harsh conditions of power plant environments.

Applications in Power Plants:

Slurry Handling

Knife gate valves are well-suited for handling abrasive and viscous media, making them ideal for applications involving slurry transport in power plants. We can offer both unidirectional and bidirectional knife gate valves for this application.

Ash Handling

In coal-fired power plants, our swing gate valves model KU-HP-PAM, Series C303 / C313 are commonly used in dry ash handling systems to control the flow of ash from ESP hopper or from the dense phase pneumatic conveying systems.

Bed ash drain discharge

Jash swing gate valve Model KU-HT, Series C-312 is uniquely designed valve to handle bed ash drain discharge from the boilers. These valves are designed in a way to withstand the temperature rise up to 1100°C and its unique construction avoids any material retention thereby delivering a smooth jam free operation.

Bunker isolations

Our customized fabricated slide gate valves Model VEG, Series C531 / C541 are suitable for most of the bunker isolation applications in the coal fired power plants. They provide a perfect sealing mechanism and are ideal for the use in gravity discharge, pressure or vacuum applications.

Coal mill reject system

Jash Knife gate valves are commonly employed in coal mill reject systems in coal-fired power plants. The coal mill reject system is designed to handle rejects from the coal mills in the power generation process. Our valves are used for isolating the coal mill reject system from the rest of the system to facilitate maintenance and prevent the backflow of rejects into the mill or other connected systems. In the event of maintenance or system issues, knife gate valves can shut off the flow of mill rejects effectively.

Our Knife gate valves are well-suited for handling abrasive and coarse materials. In the coal mill reject system, these valves must be capable of handling the abrasive nature of the rejected coal particles thus constituting one of the critical components in coal mill reject systems, providing isolation and shutoff capabilities. Their design and material selection are tailored to handle the abrasive and potentially corrosive nature of coal mill rejects. Additionally, the valves are designed for ease of operation and maintenance to ensure the reliability of the overall system.

Burner isolation

Burner isolation knife gate valves are crucial components in power plants, especially in applications where there is a need to control the flow of fuel to the burners. These valves play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of combustion systems.

The primary function of burner isolation knife gate valves is to isolate and control the flow of fuel to the burners. This is essential for safety and maintenance purposes. Materials chosen for construction are typically selected for their resistance to the specific fuel type and the operating conditions.

These valves can be manually operated, but in many industrial settings, especially in power plants, they are often equipped with actuators for remote and automated control. Actuators can be pneumatic, electric, or hydraulic, providing flexibility in control options.

Like other knife gate valves, maintenance considerations are important. These valves should be designed for easy access and maintenance, with features such as replaceable seats and packing.

Jash’s burner isolation knife gate valves are critical components in power plants, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of combustion systems. Their design, materials, and features are tailored to handle the specific conditions associated with fuel flow control in burner applications. Our knife gate valves play a crucial role in power plants by providing reliable isolation and shutoff capabilities.

Mill discharge applications

Mill discharge knife gate valves are specialized valves designed for applications involving the discharge of materials from mills, particularly in industries such as mining, mineral processing, and pulp and paper. These valves play a crucial role in controlling the flow of abrasive materials such as fluidized coal. Jash manufacturers knife gate valves for mill discharge applications and masters this application with more than 2500 valves operating since last 10 years in various coal fired power plants.

When selecting mill discharge knife gate valves, it’s crucial to consider the specific characteristics of the materials being handled, the operational conditions, and any industry standards or regulations that may apply. Consulting our team of experts can help ensure the proper selection and installation of these valves for optimal performance in mill discharge applications.

Demineralization plants

Knife gate valves are commonly used in demineralization plants, which are facilities designed to remove minerals and impurities from water through processes such as ion exchange, reverse osmosis, and other water treatment methods. Our Knife gate valves Model MONO and Model ZFI are employed to control the flow of water and various chemicals within the demineralization process. They provide isolation when needed, allowing for maintenance and regulating the movement of fluids.
